Fashion, of course, is folk art. Fashions are images
that update sensory life, that reflect change. If we
project from now—well, unisex is the thing now.
Femininity has no meaning any longer. We’ll have a
tribe of Alice Coopers—the new man/woman/beast
in a siren suit. Men and women will wear tribal
costume as a mark of group identity.
Linda Sandler, “An Informal Interview with Marshall
McLuhan,” Miss Chatelaine , Fall 1974.
